Responsibilities:
Provide direction and leadership to manufacturing engineers, process engineer and sample technicians; including people management as follows: managing performance; addressing disciplinary issues; hiring; assisting people with career development; communicating information to direct reports and passing information up the management chain; ensuring team is aligned with and accomplishing goals/objectives; administrative processing; and, maintaining trust and confidentiality
Plan the development of new processes for manufacturing lines
Prepare estimate of costs involved in changing from present to new method with little technical direction and under general supervision only
Solve complex problems with flow in present manufacturing process
Communicate effectively with external and internal customers
Coach and facilitate problem solving among team members
Keep management informed regarding project status
Responsible for ensuring that corrective actions are kept current and that they identify root cause
Ensure policies, procedures, and work instructions are adhered to consistently and equitably for all areas led
Actively participate in quote reviews and tooling meetings to ensure new programs meet expectations
Leadership and application of problem solving initiatives, such as lean manufacturing and six sigma projects
Stay current on new and or updated technology, manufacturing practices and processes related to the core business within the facility
Work with tooling in the planning of new tools and fixture designs
Develop long-term plans for new processes and equipment
Participate in the business planning process
Other duties as assigned
Keep work area clean
Report incidents and injuries to team leader/manager immediately
Recognize close-call incidents and safety hazards and take action to eliminate them
Use equipment properly and follow the safety features/operating procedures
Qualifications:
Education / Experience
Minimum of 5 years experience leading and supervising people
Bachelors' Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
Minimum of 8 years applied engineering experience
Working knowledge of process control equipment
Broad knowledge of materials and processes
Demonstrated knowledge of engineering systems
