Phillips Plastics Corporation® Announces New Multi-Shot Liquid Silicone Rubber Injection Molding Capability

Eau Claire, Wisconsin – Phillips Plastics Corporation® has broadened its manufacturing capabilities to include multi-shot liquid silicone injection molding (MS LSR), a process that combines liquid silicone rubber and traditional thermoplastics in one molded part. This process brings together the advantages of multi-shot thermoplastic molding with the properties of silicone to produce a versatile, soft feel part with biocompatibility, chemical resistance, clarity, and the ability to withstand harsh environments. MS LSR is an easy way to cost-effectively add product features and opens numerous new design options that are aesthetically appealing and economical from an engineering perspective. “With our MS LSR capability you can save on assembly costs, by reducing part count and the amount of material you would use if you made two separate components. This has been a customer driven innovation for Phillips where keeping our customers on the leading edge of technology is of greatest importance,” explained David Wolgemuth, Multi-Shot LSR Engineer for Phillips.

Phillips Plastics is one of the few companies in North America to offer full MS LSR capabilities including design, engineering, tooling, and molding with a dedicated facility and team. The new MS LSR facility will have the capabilities to handle a wide range of volumes, for a variety of markets, depending on the need. Initial opportunities are currently in development with potential for production in 2008.
